Berlin: Metropolitan Mar Mathew Moolakkat stated that the collective traditions of the community should be nurtured while maintaining unwavering loyalty to God and the Church. His Excellency made these remarks during the inauguration of "Servus," a European Knanaya youth meeting held from 8th to 10th July 2022. The event was attended by youth from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, the Netherlands, and the Czech Republic, in collaboration with the DACH association under the leadership of KCYL Germany.
President Nidin Shaji Vechuvettikal of KCYL Germany presided over the general meeting, which commenced with Holy Mass under the patronage of Mar Mathew Moolakkat. Libin Jose Parayil, the KCYL Archdiocese President, delivered the keynote address, and the spiritual advisor, Fr. Binoy Koottanal, also gave an introductory speech. Approximately 100 young people participated in the three-day youth gathering, with the aim of uniting Knanaya youth in Europe, fostering friendships among them, and empowering the community in Europe. The gathering officially commenced with the hoisting of the KCYL flag by Director Chinju Anna Poovathel.
Various ice-breaking programs and youth performances were organized to facilitate interactions between the youth from different countries. A session on youth leadership, led by Libin Jose Parayil, was held. Speakers at the event included Nijo Johnny Pandarasseril, Maria Saji Punnakat, Nidhish Thomas Pantamamchuvattil (the first president of KCYL Germany), and Thobias Parappallil. Sister Advisor Jomy SJC, Fr. Manoj Elidathamil, Joseme Jose Athanikal, Joji Jose Methayat, Sijo Sabu Nedumthottiyil, and Bony Simon Ezharath also addressed the meeting. Jabin James Kalarikkal and Sera Mohan Alooparampil presided over the program. The three-day youth meet concluded with a one-day boat ride.
